Many of you know that my son has problems. He's got ADHD and depression (to the point of being suicidal), he's got low self-esteem, and has had all sorts of problems socially and academically in school. He's in counseling and he sees a psychiatrist regularly, too. We've made a lot of progress over the last several months, but something happened today that makes me wonder if all this progress isn't in our imaginations.

One of these days, I will actually have fannish content and squee on this journal, again, instead of just horrible family issues. I apologize for not answering comments to my last post, and I probably won't get a chance to answer these ones, either, for awhile, at least. I'm just so drained and I think I'm getting depressed. I have two weeks off work coming up, though, the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. I'm going to spend it playing with my kid and getting my happy back.

  • 00:20:20: mom made cookies. I played with melting chocolate. Wish I had more artistic skill, but it's soooo fun.
  • 00:41:25: went to a bike store today and tried out an adult trike. it was SO FUN. I want one!

  • 16:11:58: need help. cat is old and really needs a new home. she gets no attention here and hates the other cats. no one would adopt her...

  • 16:12:29: I can't imagine taking her to the vet to be put down, but that may be my only option... no-kill shelter won't take any cats until Jan.
  • 16:12:41: and they won't take any cat with litter box issues.
  • 16:17:03: mom wants to give Rascal and Suzie up too... Racal likes to destroy everything (he was appropriately named, but a lover), but could be...
  • 16:17:29: ...a great cat with just a little training. Suzie has to live in the basement, like Emma, because she doesn't get along with Senaloa
  • 16:17:46: So if I gave up Emma Grace, and mom gave up Rascal and Suzie, we'd be down to one cat.
  • 16:17:53: My allergies would love it, but I would be sad.
  • 17:35:45: sugar cookie batter now in the garage cooling. 4 hours and I can start forming and decorating!
  • 17:46:31: Mom was (is) in a SERIOUS mood today. Yelled at me about too much laundry and then screamed at Harv about... lots of stuff.
  • 17:46:55: Part of me wanted to tell her she has a right to be mad at us, but not to verbally abuse. She really needs to get her meds fixed.
  • 17:47:27: I hid in my room for about 2 hours, cuz I was too scared to be upstairs where she could attack, lol.

I’ve got a job interview at a bank on Tuesday.  I’d love it if I were to get a job because I just got a bunch of money from cashing out my Whole Foods 401K plan so if I did have a steady income on the horizon it would be an excuse to buy nice Christmas gifts for my whole family (because I’ve been working low paying McJob I haven’t been able to go all out for Christmas in several years and frankly I would love to.  I delight in buying nice presents for people). 

 

I was sick last night and did nothing but lay around and watch back episodes of Criminal Minds on A&E then I went to bed at 9:00 p.m. and slept through till 7:00 a.m.  I still felt a little shaky yet this morning so I didn’t go to church for the first time since early October.  I did end up helping my grandmother put up some Christmas decorations.  She wanted to get it taken care of because last year one of our neighbors (who means well but doesn’t realize how tried she gets) came over and just about wore her out decorating. 

 

This afternoon I’m going to work at putting together some homemade Christmas cards.  I have these blank cards that I bought at Target that I’m going to use for the bases then add chocolate brown and pink and aqua Christmas trees. 

 

In preparation for the holidays I’ve also been listening incessantly to Tori Amos’ Midwinter Graces and Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas.
